At Birchman, we believe in the power of resilience, ambition and the unshakeable belief that even the boldest dreams can become reality. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to be sponsoring Jordan Wylie on his latest adventure: Antarctic Odyssey 2025 – a world-first solo crossing of the frozen continent on foot and unsupported, a feat never before achieved by a Brit.
Who is Jordan?
Jordan Wylie is not your typical adventurer. An MBE-awarded former soldier, best-selling author, mental health advocate and youth ambassador, Jordan’s journey hasn’t always been easy but it’s always been driven by purpose. From a tough start on a council estate in Blackpool to tackling some of the harshest environments on earth, he has used every step of his journey to inspire others and give back – raising over £1 million for good causes along the way.
Jordan’s backstory
His story is one of transformation. Once a teenager at risk of falling into the wrong path, Jordan found direction and purpose through the military, the outdoors and later, through extreme adventure. From barefoot climbs up Kilimanjaro to paddling around Britain and running marathons in the coldest places on Earth, each challenge has had one consistent thread: to make a positive impact.
Now, as he sets his sights on Antarctica, facing subzero temperatures, complete isolation and one of the most extreme physical and mental tests imaginable. Jordan’s values of courage, perseverance and honesty couldn’t resonate more strongly with our own.
“Who I am today is a product of my experiences – my failures, my values and my purpose,” Jordan shared. “It’s not about being the fastest or strongest. It’s about making a difference.”
Why Jordan?
That aligns perfectly with our belief in Ambition Made Possible. We know that real ambition isn’t always glamorous, it’s gritty, it’s tested and it’s grounded in something real. That’s why we were drawn to Jordan: not just for the records he’s chasing but for the integrity with which he does it.
At the heart of Antarctic Odyssey 2025 is more than just a personal challenge. It’s a mission to inspire young people, particularly those who, like Jordan once was, are searching for purpose. It’s about showing that no matter where you start, the right mindset, values and support can take you anywhere.
His openness about his struggles with mental health, his advocacy for youth education and resilience and his honest reflection on failure and growth reflect our values at Birchman. To be open. To be honest. To lead with intention.
As Jordan said, “It’s not about what you do, it’s why you do it.” That spirit of purpose is exactly what we stand for.
So as Jordan takes on the most unforgiving place on Earth, we’ll be right there with him, cheering him on, sharing his journey and believing in the power of what’s possible when ambition is backed by purpose.
