On Saturday, March 27 2010 at 8:30 pm, The Birchman Group will take part in Earth Hour – the world’s largest global climate change initiative led by the World Wildlife Fund. By simply turning out all non-essential lighting for one hour – at our company buildings and in our own homes – we will join hundreds of millions of concerned citizens across the globe in showing the world we can work together to resolve the issue of global warming.
In 2008, more than 50 million people in 400 cities around the world took part, as the lights dimmed at Sydney’s Opera House, Rome’s Coliseum and the Empire State Building. Even the Google homepage went dark for the day. In Israel, President Shimon Peres personally turned off lights in Tel Aviv.
In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative. To get a better sense of the magnitude and inspiring nature the event, please take a moment to watch WWF’s video about Earth Hour 2010 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FclcMfzjwug
Energy efficiency isn’t just good for the bottom line. We all have a stake in the future of our planet and must learn to operate in ways that don’t deplete our world’s limited natural resources.
Joining Earth Hour is a great way to show our customers and our community that the people of The Birchman Group genuinely care about their future and are showing leadership in the battle against the most critical issue facing the planet today. We hope you’ll join us in the important and inspiring effort and turn out all non-essential lighting for one hour at our company buildings at your location encourage your local employees to take part.
